IWC comes back with a new limited edition, honouring one of its favourite ambassadors (unfortunately not with us anymore), Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, pilot and writer, and its most famous character, ‘le Petit Prince’. I'm looking to pull the trigger on the IWC Big Pilot 5009-01 ZF but wanted to ask the community if there have been any other contenders for the most accurate Big Pilot rep? I know that the 5009-01 ZF will need a strap change but I'm happy to do that, but I'm curious to look at alternative options.
#1. Just in time for Christmas 2021, I received my new Big Pilot from Lucy. The workmanship on this rep is just great, looks as solid as it feels (once you throw away the original strap). Screw-in crown. Limited to 1,000 watches. Special engraving featuring the little prince and inscription “IWC ∙ LE PETIT PRINCE ∙ ONE OUT OF 1000” on case back. Case and folding clasp in stainless steel, midnight blue dial, rhodium-plated hands and indices, coated with Super-LumiNova®*, brown calfskin strap with quilted stitching. I'm looking to pull the trigger on the IWC Big Pilot 5009-01 ZF but wanted to ask the community of there have been any other contenders for the most accurate Big Pilot rep? I know that the 5009-01 ZF will need a strap change but I'm happy to do that, I'm curious to look at alternative options. I'm wondering what would be the pros and cons of each of the old (5009-16) and current (5010-02) versions of the watch? From what I understand, they are identical, except that the 5009 has the older 51111 movement with a single barrel and 21600 BPH.
I have a gen IWC Mark XX in green and got my buddy the ZF version for his birthday. Comparing the two side by side are actually very close. The green is very slightly different in the dial and winding the movements are an obvious tell but other than that I think it would be NWBIG.

Hey guys, a few questions about these: The sticky says the 5009-01 is the only "super rep", is this actually so?
